Das Nokia E90 Communicator beherrscht alle momentan üblichen Internetzugänge. Falls möglich wird das Smartphone über UMTS online gehen. Dabei können Sprach- und Datenverbindungen parallel genutzt werden. Wer auf eine schnellere Verbindung wert legt und einen entsprechenden Datenvertrag besitzt, kann auch HSDPA mit bis 3,6 Mbit/s nutzen.

Eine Alternative dazu ist der Zugang in WLAN-Hotspots (802.11g). Das E90 kann die Daten dabei über WPA oder WPA2 verschlüsseln. Im ländlichen Raum lassen sich meist nur GPRS und EDGE nutzen (Klasse 32). Auch hier sind parallele Sprach- und Datenverbindungen möglich.

Im Nahbereich kann das E90 zum Datenabgleich mit dem Computer auf Bluetooth 2.0, Infrarot oder ein Mini-USB-Kabel zugreifen. Zur Synchronisierung nutzt das E90 die Intellisync Mobile 8.0 Plattform.
