Texteingabe mit TouchFLO

HTC hat sich mit dem HTC Touch (auch HTC 3450, T-Mobile MDA Touch, Vodafone VPA Touch, O2 Xda nova) nicht weniger vorgenommen, als die Bedienung von Smartphones und somit auch die Eingabe von Texten zu revolutionieren. Beim Design eines neuen Gerätes besteht grundsätzlich das Problem, dass Display und Tastatur zu klein ausfallen. Mit TouchFLO verbindet HTC einfach beides, die Eingabe erfolgt direkt über den Bildschirm.

Das HTC Touch mit TouchFLOTouchFLO ist eine Benutzeroberfläche, die daumengroße Schaltflächen auf einem Touchscreen anzeigt. Beim HTC Touch sind dies in den meisten Übersichten sechs Schaltflächen pro Bildschirm. Diese lassen sich dann auch mit dem dicksten Finger kaum noch verfehlen. Bisher galt immer die Devise, möglichst viel auf einen Bildschirm zu packen. Da wurden nicht selten diese sechs Schaltflächen in eine Reihe gestopft. Ohne einen Stift in der Hand waren diese aber nicht sicher zu treffen.

HTC hat einen guten Ansatz gewählt, diesen aber nicht konsequent durchgezogen. Das Menü ist an sich gut strukturiert, auf unteren Menüebenen finden sich doch noch Ansichten, bei denen der Griff zum Stift Pflicht wird. Zum Beispiel beim Verfassen von E-Mails oder SMS

TouchFLO ist aber nicht nur der schnellere Einsatz des Daumens statt des umständlichen Hantierens mit einem Stift. Ähnlich der Mausgesten am Computer lassen sich beim HTC Touch einfache Steuerungsbefehle eingeben, indem man mit dem Daumen horizontal oder vertikal über den Touchscreen streicht.

Streicht man von unten nach oben, öffnet sich ein Menü. Von links nach rechts geht es zum nächsten Menüpunkt. Um diese Gesten sicher auszuführen, benötigt man ein wenig Übung, dann geht es aber ganz gut. TouchFLO setzt auf Windows Mobile 6 auf und ist folglich nicht an ein Gerät oder einen Gerätehersteller gebunden.

TouchFLO ermöglicht es auch, den Touchscreen weitgehend mit einer Hand zu benutzen. Wird der Stift dennoch benötigt, findet sich dieser auf der Rückseite des Gerätes. Ganz ohne Tasten kommt aber auch das HTC Touch nicht aus. Unterhalb des Displays befinden sich ein 5-Wege-Steuerkreuz sowie eine grüne und eine rote Taste, um Gespräche direkt annehmen bzw. danach beenden zu können. Texte werden über eine Bildschirmtastatur eingegeben.
