HTC Snap: Blackberry mit großen Tasten
Das Blackberry-Format ist ein Klassiker - oben ein mittelgroßes Display, darunter eine vollständige QWERTZ-Tastatur. Oft wurde es kopiert, jetzt wieder vom HTC Snap, einem Smartphone mit Windows Mobile.
HTC hat dem Snap eine neue Funktion spendiert: Inner Circle. Der Zugriff auf wichtige E-Mails soll darüber schneller geschehen. Einzelne Kontakte lassen sich priorisieren. Diese werden dann in der Liste neuer E-Mails als erste angezeigt.
HTC Snap: Konkurrenz für den Blackberry
Mehr als eine Sortierfunktion, eine einfache zudem, verbirgt sich dahinter jedoch nicht. Alternativ könnte man auch die E-Mails wichtiger Kontakte automatisch in einen E-Mail-Ordner einsortieren lassen.
Einsteigergerät für Vielschreiber
HTC verschleiert damit den Blick auf die eigentlichen Vorzüge des HTC Snap. Das Smartphone ist ein gutes Einsteigergerät für Vieltipper. Das HTC Snap ist kompakt und dünn. Es bietet zudem große Tasten, auf denen sich gut schreiben lässt.
Das neue HTC-Smartphone hat wie das HTC Touch eine gummierte Oberfläche und abgerundete Kanten. Es misst 11,7 x 6,2 x 1,2 cm und wiegt 120 Gramm.
Der Bildschirm misst 2,4 Zoll und zeigt 320 x 240 Punkte an. Da als Betriebssystem Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard eingesetzt wird, handelt es sich nicht um einen Touchscreen.
Große Tasten zum schnellen Tippen
Die Tasten sind sehr groß und bieten deshalb keine Zwischenräume. Sie sind aber gewölbt, damit man sie gut erfühlen kann.
Erste Tester bei der Vorstellung im Rahmen der CTIA Wireless berichten, dass sich darauf schnell und sicher tippen lässt. Die Navigation in Menüs erfolgt über einen Trackball.
Ins Internet gelangt das HTC Snap über HSPA. Damit sind Downloads über HSDPA mit 7,2 Mbit/s und Uploads über HSUPA mit 2,0 Mbit/s möglich. Alternativ lässt sich auch WLAN b/g nutzen.
Erscheint im zweiten Quartal
Der Qualcomm-Prozessor MSM7225 ist mit einem Takt von 528 MHz weder schnell noch langsam. Wer viel Speicher benötigt, muss diesen über eine Micro-SD-Karte nachrüsten.
Eine Akkuladung reicht für Dauertelefonate von 8,5 Stunden oder eine Standbyzeit von 15,8 Tagen. Über einen A-GPS-Empfänger lässt sich das Snap als Navigationsgerät nutzen.
Das HTC Snap wird in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz Mitte des
zweiten Quartals erscheinen. Einen Preis nannte HTC noch nicht. Erst daran wird sich zeigen, ob das Snap tatsächlich als Einsteigermodell gedacht ist.

Well I'll count myself lucky beausce I did the time trick, got the update and didn't get bricked. Now just have to wait for the 2.1 full update.I've seen on another site that T-Mobile (and Orange) have to release it within the next two days. They signed an agreement with HTC regarding this. So hopefully not too long now. Although I am concerned their servers will get overwhelmed, which leads me to believe that some users might get it a bit later than in the next two days.
