Alles zu seiner Zeit: Samsung Omnia erscheint später
Alles kann das Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia dann doch nicht, auch wenn der Name dies dem Lateinkundigen suggeriert. Anders als angekündigt erscheint das Samsung Omnia nicht mehr im Juli, sondern am 6. August. 649 Euro soll es ohne Vertrag kosten. Doch dies ist bloß die unverbindliche Preisempfehlung.
Bei den Netzbetreibern wird es das Samsung i900 Omnia selbstverständlich zu einem günstigeren Preis geben - mit Vertrag versteht sich. Samsung hat alle vier Mobilfunker ins Boot geholt: T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-Plus und O2.
Warten auf das Samsung i900 Omnia
Damit wird das Samsung Omnia auch beim iPhone-Händler T-Mobile zu haben sein. Beide Smartphones - iPhone und Omnia - werden gerne als direkte Konkurrenten gesehen. Das Samsung Qbowl gab es seinerzeit nur bei Vodafone. - O2 hat bereits angekündigt, das Omnia zusammen mit einem Zweijahresvertrag ab 179 Euro zu verkaufen.
Die Widgets kommen
Das Samsung i900 Omnia zeichnet sich durch seine TouchWiz-Oberfläche aus, bei der verschiedene Widgets auf der Startseite abgelegt werden können - ähnlich wie beim Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, das ebenfalls demnächst erscheinen wird.
Über die TouchWiz-Oberfläche sollen sich viele Funktionen direkt und auf einen Fingerdruck hin auch schnell aufrufen lassen. Der Touchscreen des Samsung i900 Omnia misst 3,2 Zoll in der Diagonalen, kann allerdings nur 240 x 400 Bildpunkte anzeigen.
Wählt man eine Funktion aus, erhält man über einen leichte Vibration ein Feedback, dass man das Widget auch richtig getroffen hat. Unterhalb der TouchWiz-Oberfläche findet sich das Betriebssystem Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
HSDPA mit 7,2 Mbit/s
Für einen schnellen Internetzugang sorgt die UMTS-Erweiterung HSDPA mit bis zu 7,2 MBit/s oder WLAN 802.11 b/g. Befinden sich keine entsprechenden Netze in Reichweite, dann kann das Samsung i900 Omnia auch über UMTS, EDGE oder GPRS funken.
Der Schwerpunkt wurde beim Samsung i900 Omnia aber auf Multimedia gelegt. Die Kamera bietet mit 5 Megapixel eine sehr hohe Auflösung. Das Samsung i900 Omnia hat auch einen GPS-Empfänger eingebaut.
