Google Sync: Google Kalender synchronisiert mit Blackberry

Es ist das alte Funkloch-Problem: Wer seine Daten nicht auf dem Handy liegen hat, sondern im Netz auf einem Server, der kommt dort nicht heran, wenn das Handy mal keine Netzverbindung hat. Wenn man aber gerade in der U-Bahn sitzt, möchte man manchmal trotzdem wissen, wie pünktlich man am Ziel zu sein hat. Im Google Mobile Blog wurde nun Google Sync for Mobile vorgestellt. Das Programm synchronisiert den Google Kalender mit Smartphones von Blackberry.

Google Sync for MobileUm Google Sync for Mobile auf den Blackberry zu laden, gibt man im Browser m.google.com/sync ein. Das Programm legt ein Icon auf dem Home-Bildschirm ab und fügt im Menü des Kalenders einen neuen Eintrag hinzu. Klickt man einen der beiden Links an, werden umgehend der Google Kalender und der Blackberry-Kalender synchronisiert. Alternativ lässt sich auch ein Zeitplan für den automatischen Abgleich festlegen.

Damit ist dann auch schon das Funkloch-Problem gelöst. Daten, die auf dem Blackberry eingegeben werden, erscheinen nach dem Datenabgleich automatisch im Google Kalender. Es lässt sich auch festlegen, welche Änderung Vorrang hat, wenn ein Termin parallel bearbeitet wird. Der Chef oder die Sekretärin.

Abgleich mehrerer Kalender

Brauchbar wird die Funktion erst dadurch, dass sich mehrere Kalender einbinden lassen. Viele Google-Nutzer werden neben einem privaten auch mehrere dienstliche und einen Familien-Kalender führen. Es lassen sich aber lediglich 4 bis 24 Wochen abgleichen. Auch die Erinnerungen übernimmt der Blackberry, wie sie im Google Kalender festgelegt wurden.

Um Google Sync nutzen zu können, muss bei einigen Blackberrys zuvor noch ein Patch eingespielt werden. Man kann aber davon ausgehen, dass Google Sync für weitere Betriebssysteme folgen wird. Dort ist allerdings die Zahl der verwendeten Kalenderprogramme größer als auf dem Blackberry. Der schlichte Name Google Sync deutet ebenfalls darauf hin, dass Google nicht nur den Kalender zu synchronisieren beabsichtigt, sondern zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt auch andere persönliche Daten wie Adressen.
