Das Playstation-Handy im Test

Die ersten Bilder und Videos vom Playstation-Handy stammten aus China, jetzt hat aber auch das renommierte US-Tech-Blog Engadget einen Prototypen in die Hand bekommen und getestet.

Alles deutet darauf hin, dass das Playstation Handy als Sony Ericsson Xperia Play im Rahmen des Mobile World Congress Mitte Februar vorgestellt wird.

Das von Engadget getestete Xperia Play läuft bereits unter Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Abgesehen von ein paar Schwächen ist die Hardware ausgereift. Lediglich spielen ließ sich mit dem Xperia Play noch nicht – jedenfalls nicht mit den dafür vorgesehenen Spielen.

Gamepad funktioniert bereits

Das Sony Ericsson Xperia Play hat einen 4 Zoll großen Touchscreen, der 854 x 480 Punkte anzeigt. Anscheinend gibt es nur einen Single-Core-Prozessor mit 1 GHz. Die für Spiele wichtige Grafik kommt aber vom Grafik-Chip Adreno 205.



Hinter der Anwendung PlayStation Pocket, von der schon ein chinesisches Portal berichtet hat, befindet sich ein Zugang zum Sony Playstation Store, der allerdings noch nicht erreichbar war.

Über einen Emulator konnten aber sowohl Original-Playstation- als auch Gameboy-Advance-Spiele aufgerufen werden, die sich über das Gamepad, das unter dem Display hervorgezogen wird, in vollem Umfang bedienen ließen.
