Skype auf dem Google-Handy

Im Android Market gibt es jetzt auch eine Software von Skype, die dem Google-Handy T-Mobile G1 das Telefonieren über den Voice-over-IP-Anbieter beibringt.

Dabei handelt es sich um das Programm Skype Lite, das sich auch auf über 100 weiteren Java-Handys installieren lässt. Eine erste Version hatte Skype bereits im Frühjahr letzten Jahres vorgestellt.

Skype Lite auf einem Java-HandyDabei handelt es sich aber um keinen vollwertigen Skype-Client. Die Anzeige des Status der Freunde sowie der klassische Text-Chat funktionieren problemlos über den mobilen Internetzugang. Gespräche werden jedoch über die Verbindung des Mobilfunk-Providers geführt.

Mobilfunker berechnen Gebühren

Dieser lässt sich die Gespräche dann auch bezahlen - so auch in Deutschland. Lediglich in Australien, Brasilien, Dänemark, Estland, Finnland, Großbritannien, Neuseeland, Polen, Schweden und den USA gibt es Übereinkommen zwischen Skype und den Mobilfunkern.

In allen anderen Ländern stellt Skype eine lokale Einwahlnummer zur Verfügung, die eventuell günstiger oder mit einer Festnetz-Flatrate auch ohne Zusatzkosten angerufen werden kann.

Ebenfalls vorgestellt hat Skype im Rahmen der CES 2009 in Las Vegas eine Skype-Version für Mobile Internet Devices, die unter Moblin-Linux laufen. Bei dieser Betaversion 1.0 stehen allerdings alle Funktionen zur Verfügung.
